20th Century Spring Season
Our 20th Century spring season brings together the biggest names in Impressionist, modern, post-war and contemporary art. As part of a new generation of international auction events, the series is headlined by three global evening sales livestreamed on 23 March, uniting collectors across different geographies and time zones. We Are All Warriors: The Basquiat Auction, a single-lot sale of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s landmark work WARRIOR, will be broadcast from Hong Kong, followed immediately by the 20th Century Evening Sale and The Art of the Surreal Evening Sale in London.
Highlights include remarkable works by Jean Dubuffet, Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon and Lucio Fontana, and masterpieces from the Collection of Claude Hersaint — one of the most important collectors of Surrealist art of the 20th century — led by René Magritte’s iconic Le mois des vendanges. Our corresponding day and online sales, taking place 16–31 March, offer a wide range of prints, paintings, sculpture and works on paper from the period.
20th Century season kicked off in New York and London on 1 March with A Family Collection: Works on Paper, Van Gogh to Freud and the Modern British Art Evening Sale achieving a total of £43,702,515 and selling 98% by lot and 100% by value.
