Sales of Japanese artists are booming

Southeast Asian artists have outstanding results

• Zhong Sibin sold two lots, "Inspiration from Nature" was sold for HK$11.507 million, and "Chat" was sold for HK$2.772 million;

Sanyu's "Reclining Naked Girl on a Tapestry" was sold for HK$160 million, plus commission of HK$187 million, and was won by plate number 9366.This work is the lead work on the cover of this season’s Christie’s Hong Kong Autumn Evening Sale of 20th and 21st Century Art. It comes from the illustrious Devers Collection and is the first to be sold in Asia.
"The Complete Collection of Sanyu's Oil Paintings" (Volume 1) can be said to be Sanyu's most historically significant work.The cover is this painting "Nude Lying Sideways on a Tapestry", which fully proves the exemplary nature and importance of this work. Among the approximately 300 works created by Sanyu throughout his life, only 13 oil paintings were created in the 1930s and before, with the theme of lying nude women.Only five of them depict the back of a nude woman, so this work can be regarded as the most exquisite example among them.

In this colorful and dynamically textured composition, Gurney pays homage to Van Gogh while simultaneously presenting a self-portrait. The artist displayed superb painting techniques, from the soft and delicate strokes of a flower to the thick strokes of a knife, to outline Van Gogh's unique swirling curves. It can be seen that Gurney's creations were influenced by Bacon, Lucian Freud, Richter and other artistic predecessors, and then transformed into his own unique artistic language.
