On April 25, the "Flowers, Fruits, and Mountains - Wang Chaogang's Works Exhibition" officially opened in Exhibition Hall A on the 2nd floor of the Guangming Cultural and Art Center Art Museum.This exhibition is guided by the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Guangming District, Shenzhen, and jointly hosted by Guangming Cultural and Art Center and the Oil Painting Art Committee of Chongqing Artists Association. It is organized by Shenzhen OCT Cultural and Sports Industry Management Co., Ltd., and co-organized by Chongqing Oil Painting Society, School of Fine Arts of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Alumni Association of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute Shenzhen, and Awakening Gallery. The China Oil Painting Society, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, and Chongqing Artists Association provide academic support.It creates an art feast that combines academic excellence, artistic depth, and public engagement.

The exhibition showcases over 70 of Wang Chaogang's recent works, including his paintings. He is the Vice President of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, a professor in the Oil Painting Department, and a doctoral supervisor. The exhibition comprehensively demonstrates the trajectory and achievements of his artistic creation. As a leading figure in contemporary Chinese oil painting, Wang Chaogang's works have been selected for top international exhibitions such as the Beijing International Biennale and the Tashkent International Art Biennale in Uzbekistan, and are collected by authoritative institutions such as the National Art Museum of China.

This exhibition uses "flowers, fruits, and mountains" as its core narrative axis, transcending the superficial symbolism of traditional objects.It constructs a complete philosophical map and spiritual system, from microscopic perception (flower), material critique (fruit) to spiritual transcendence (mountain).The delicate and fleeting nature of flowers carries a gaze upon time and a profound questioning of the essence of life; the abundant and substantial abundance of fruit implies a reflection on the alienation of consumption and an examination of the paradoxes of reality; the vast and profound grandeur of mountains embodies a pursuit of spiritual transcendence and a yearning for spiritual refuge. These three elements reflect each other, progressing layer by layer, together weaving a visual epic about the essence of existence, the realities of life, and spiritual destiny.It not only showcases the profound heritage of Eastern aesthetics, but also demonstrates a high level of academic curatorial standards and artistic expression.

At the opening ceremony, curator Hui Shuwen introduced the overall concept of the exhibition in his speech. He divided the exhibition into three chapters: "Flowers, Fruits, and Mountains," tracing the artist's creative path over the past thirty years, from "early works in 1997 to the latest works in 2026," forming a clear temporal depth. He mentioned that the exhibition is not only a presentation of stages, but also an unfolding of an inner structure: "Whether it is the splendor of flowers or the fullness of fruits, it ultimately points to something more important, spiritual," and "'Seeing the mountains' is actually seeing ourselves," highlighting the exhibition's path from external experience to inner reflection.

In his speech, artist Wang Chaogang stated that this exhibition is one of his largest and most comprehensive presentations in recent years. The title "Flowers, Fruits, and Mountains" comes from the three sections of his work and also reflects his desire to respond to the inherent logic of his works in a more intuitive way. He mentioned that the title is taken from familiar classic literature, "both popular and a direct commentary." He reviewed the creative and preparation process, frankly stating that the exchanges at the symposium "benefited me greatly in my future creations," and expressed his special gratitude to the museum team for their professionalism and dedication in the execution of the exhibition, as well as to government leaders, industry organizations, and the vast number of alumni of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute Shenzhen Alumni Association for their strong support.

Feng Zhiguo, Vice President of the China Academy of Art, evaluated Wang Chaogang's work from the perspective of artistic development. He pointed out that the artist has maintained a high level of creative output in recent years, holding "one or two solo exhibitions almost every year," demonstrating stable and vigorous creativity. From his early works in 1997, the seeds of his artistic language can be seen, gradually evolving into his current stylistic system. He further noted that in the "Fruit" series, the artist responds to the landscape experience of contemporary consumer society with a highly realistic approach, while his overall work consistently "grows its own contemporary art concepts from traditional Chinese cultural resources," exhibiting a continuously deepening intellectual path.

In his speech, Pang Maokun, Vice Chairman of the China Artists Association and Director of the Oil Painting Art Committee, placed the exhibition within the context of Chinese art tradition. He noted that from the "seeing the big picture in small details" of ancient flower-and-bird paintings to the spiritual sustenance of landscape paintings, related imagery has always carried the core dimension of cultural expression. In Wang Chaogang's works, these traditional resources are transformed into contemporary visual language, and the progressive structure of "from flowers to fruits to mountains" constitutes a "layered, rhythmic narrative." He particularly pointed out that "every stroke in the painting carries the emotions and intentions of different time periods," reflecting the unique depth brought about by the sedimentation of time.

In his speech, Xiao Yinghong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, introduced the work from the perspective of the institute and the cultivation of artists. He stated that Wang Chaogang has long been deeply involved in oil painting creation and teaching, and has grown into a pillar of the oil painting major and fine arts discipline at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. He noted that Wang Chaogang possesses both a solid academic foundation and a keen sensitivity to contemporary life and the spiritual world. He pointed out that Wang Chaogang's work establishes a warm connection between personal experience, the spirit of the times, and public aesthetics, and expressed his hope that this exhibition would promote more positive cultural interaction between institutions, art museums, and the urban public.

Fan Bo, President of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, extended warm congratulations on behalf of the China Oil Painting Society and the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts on the successful opening of the exhibition. In his speech, he emphasized the viewing path and experiential structure of the exhibition. He pointed out that "flowers are closer to the first impression, fruits carry the meaning of time, while mountains tend towards a more stable existence, closer to an internal structure," and the three constitute a progressive relationship from the outside in. He also mentioned that Wang Chaogang's works "do not rush to tell a story, nor do they directly present the meaning," but rather allow the viewer to gradually enter through the changes in color, structure, and materials by constantly layering and advancing the painting. "This is not a result achieved in one stroke, but a temporal process of repeated deliberation and continuous deepening."

In his speech, Chen Hongjiang, Party Secretary and Chairman of Shenzhen OCT Cultural Development Co., Ltd., stated that this exhibition is an important practice for cultural institutions in promoting public cultural development. He pointed out that OCT, as a central enterprise deeply rooted in the cultural field for over forty years, has long been committed to "injecting cultural vitality into cities and conveying the warmth of art to the public." The Guangming Cultural and Art Center, in its five years of operation, has also continuously built a high-quality art platform. Mr. Wang Chaogang, with "Flowers, Fruits, and Mountains" as the core narrative, "constructs a complete path from microscopic perception to the spiritual level," transforming simple objects into artistic expressions with profound thought, bringing the audience an artistic feast that combines visual appeal and contemplation. Finally, he announced the official opening of the exhibition.

This exhibition not only presents high-quality artworks, but also focuses on academic research.Two major events were held concurrently: a thematic seminar and a public art dialogue, thus establishing a diversified exchange system integrating "exhibition + academic research + public participation".This highlights the broad and profound academic research value of the exhibition.

The symposium was themed "Presence, Persistence, and Emptiness: The Narrative Logic of Wang Chaogang's Art and the Self-Generative Mechanism of Painting".The exhibition brings together top domestic art scholars, critics, and curators, including the exhibiting artist, Wang Chaogang, Vice President and Professor of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute; Feng Zhiguo, Vice President of China Academy of Art; He Jun, Vice President of Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts; Zhang Jie, Vice Chairman of Chongqing Artists Association; Xie Mu, senior media professional and ArtPro Media Partner; Lin Shuchuan, Deputy Director of Nanjing University of the Arts Art Museum; Du Xiyun, critic and curator; Yu Ke, Professor of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, renowned curator and critic; and Hui Shuwen, curator of this exhibition and Director of Shanghai YOUNG Art Museum. In the subsequent art dialogue open to the publicXie Mu, Du Xiyun, Lin Shuchuan, along with artist Wang Chaogang and curator Hui Shuwen, engaged in a dialogue on the exhibition's works and themes from different perspectives, including creation, curation, criticism, and dissemination. The dialogue combined specific interpretations of the works with sharing of on-site experiences, providing the public with a more engaging path to understanding and effectively connecting academic discussion with audience experience.

The exhibition continues the academic tone and artistic quality of the exhibition, using "flowers," "fruits," and "mountains" as spatial narrative clues. As visitors move through the changing scenery, they gradually enter the inner spiritual garden built by artist Wang Chaogang.
