About the Artist
A Greek-Italian artist. Born in Greece, he moved to Italy in 1956 and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. In his early works, he used letters, numbers, superimposed printed symbols, and road signs to create spatial extensions of color and image. Beginning in 1967, he used found waste and everyday materials as his medium, becoming a leading example of the "poor artist." His works are simple, natural, and imbued with a humanistic aesthetic.
