烏克蘭和美國的前衛雕塑家、圖形藝術家,是最早將立體主義原理應用到雕塑中的人之一。他出生於烏克蘭基輔,年少時在家鄉的藝術學校學習繪畫和雕塑,後前往巴黎,於1923年移居美國。他將立體主義的思想融入雕塑,將人的形體分析成了幾何形式,在作品中運用凹陷和空洞,使負空間成為雕塑的重要表現元素。
