Phillips Hong Kong Modern and Contemporary Art Department appoints four new people in Hong Kong, Beijing and Tokyo to help expand business in Asia
Hong Kong / Beijing / Tokyo – January 22, 2025 – Phillips is pleased to announce a number of new appointments to its Modern & Contemporary Art department and business development teams in Asia, continuing its commitment to aggressive growth in the region.

Meiling Lee, Head of Modern and Contemporary Art, Asia at Phillips, said:“This year marks the 10th anniversary of Phillips’ entry into the Asian market, and we are pleased to announce several new appointments at this critical juncture. The Asian market has changed rapidly in recent years, and Phillips has continued to adjust its strategy and activities to meet the growing needs of collectors. Since the opening of our Asian headquarters in the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong two years ago, we have changed from two auctions a year to four auctions in Hong Kong, and hold public exhibitions from time to time. These new members with rich industry experience will help the company further develop its business and work together with the team to provide better services to collectors.”
Daphne sedaniShe will lead the company's business in Japan and continue to promote the development of various categories in this market. Seya has been working in the auction industry for more than 20 years. Before joining Phillips, she worked at Sotheby's, where she played an important role in collecting Japanese private collectors and institutional collections and promoting them to the international art market. During her tenure at Sotheby's, she was not only an expert in Chinese antique porcelain, but also participated in the auctions and collections of numerous important art categories, from Classical Masters, Impressionism to Modern and Contemporary Art.
Lin YajingPrior to joining Phillips, she worked as a senior expert and auction director in the modern and contemporary art department of Bonhams Hong Kong. She also worked at Tang Contemporary Art and Christie’s, and has extensive experience in planning auctions and exhibitions, developing the modern and contemporary art market, and expanding collector resources.
Hu DiPrior to joining Phillips, she worked as a specialist in the Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art Department at China Guardian Hong Kong, where she participated in many important auctions. She was also responsible for curating the highly acclaimed “Silent Blossoms: Works from the Jing Zhiyong Collection”, which was Guardian Hong Kong’s first exhibition focusing on contemporary art. Before joining China Guardian Hong Kong, she worked at the K11 Art Foundation.
Ma XiaoyuPrior to joining Phillips, she was based in Beijing and worked as an assistant specialist in the 20th Century and Contemporary Art Department at China Guardian, where she participated in many major auctions and solicited key lots, including the “Ask the West: Special Topic of Chinese Contemporary Art, 1900-2000” auction. Prior to joining China Guardian, she worked at Poly Theatre Management Co., Ltd. and Beijing X Art Museum.
Over the past two years, Phillips’ Modern & Contemporary Art department has made a series of appointments in Asia to further expand and restructure its team. The department now has nearly 40 members in Asia, responsible for planning the modern and contemporary art auctions and exhibitions in Hong Kong throughout the year, including major spring and autumn auctions, New Now auctions, limited prints auctions, online auctions and exhibitions.
